Still never seen better in Australia because this video highlights the incredible power of teamwork. The Character of Andrew Gaze to put aside his ego and feed Copes so well, such a hard working team, Giddey, Bradtke and of course the Master Lindsay Gaze.
Only just recently found this and wish to thank whoever uploaded it as my family had an amazing afternoon and my late brother features cheering the team on in his Pumas tracksuit in the corner during the second half, seeing him as he was floods my mind with memories of a much happier time that was not cherished as it should have been, it truly was an exciting game.
The Saints seem to be the first team to wear longer shorts, while other teams like the Devils and Wildcats continued to wear 70-80s short-shorts into 1990/91.
love the clean court and the absence of continuous music
Holy shit was that the great Larry Sengstock hitting them with the 'too small' after scoring at 1:10 ?? 🤣
If the game was any slower, paint would dry quicker
The commentator got it a bit confused by saying "15 seconds left", then "4 seconds left" - this was back when they were still playing 20 minute halves, but also using that clock face (at 0:47) that doesn't distinguish between the 20 minutes and the number of seconds (as the second hand would go around once a minute)... so obviously there were really ~45 seconds left, plenty of time to get the shot away... very easy mistake to make but I'm surprised they didn't wake up to it when it took almost the entire shot clock to get the ball up 🤔 The other really old-school thing being that, yes, there is a 30-second shot clock... but it's the six lights on the back wall, one lighting up every 5 seconds. ISTR that the early Filipino leagues wanted to replicate the NBA's 24-second clock, yet that type of shot clock was all that was available internationally so they had to settle for 25 🤷♂
I think i was at this match
Do you have the montage from end season 1989, with the song ' I want it all' by Queen? Was really awesome. Great times.
Where was Emanuel D cress
NBL has come a long way. Today it’s a good league, but here the commentary was just cringe.
Who is the American commentator?
Best grand final series in NBL history
Bring back the NBL all star game and 3 point and slam dunk contests.
Magic would have made a winner of the Washington Generals. GOAT.
I think we both just read the same article
One hears so much Jordan NONSENSE, and "how much talent" Magic had. This is a 43 year old man out of basketball almost a decade, but he dissected a prime college basketball team with a group of foreign players he has never played with. Easily the greatest basketball player ever.
He played in the NBA like 5 years prior but sure nearly a decade haha
Hi I am responsible for at least 70 of these views..... 14 years after it was uploaded and still going strong . Cheers
Who did that hail mary heave at the beginning of the video?
Good old days I was 13 then never went to a live game but knew plenty who did the crowd are practically sitting on the court lol they certainly squeezed in as many as they could back then
Watched this live. What a game. Good riddance to Connor Henry too 👏
This was just after Tiny Pinder was handcuffed by WA Police at half-time of the 1990 NBL semifinals in Perth.
All these years later, he's STILL getting himself into trouble. Dude is not right in the head.
Brett Rainbow was not bad considering this was the early 90s, and Australia. The rest of them... umm nah
Welcome to Perth Wildcats John Rillie 👏👏👏
I love how Australian pro basketball is played in a sheep shed lol, nah just kidding. Came here because Rillie was just appointed Perth Wildcats head coach🎉, so I looked him up. Man, this guy could play.
Mark "Chairman of the Boards" Davis. Daryl "Iceman" Pearce. Great 36ers players
Who's here because of the Rillie coach appointment to the cats and wanted to re-live this moment sadistically as a Wildcats supporter?
Brett rocking the Reebok Pump D Time. Signature shoe of 1991 NBA Slam Dunk champion. 🙌
and in such quite very short time to as well
probably one of the most greatest come backs in all history ever!!
Still ballin
Golden age of the NBL. While there's no games on due to covid they should put replays of the early 90's classic games on Kayo!
1:22 Always loved that Three O no look pass to DeAmbrosis. Class play.
Bro I can’t believe people used to get excited over a damn 2 pointer mid range shot! 😂
Is that Lindsay Gaze commentating? And Peter Gee? No idea who the American commentator is…
fantastic upload do you have the complete match ?
I was at this game! I was 19 years old at the time, great times. Trimmingham was a human highlight film.
Brett Rainbow can fly. No doubt about this and he wore #23 as well1
Good old days!
Loved the Tigers back then.
There's something about the 80's NBL here that's just really appealing to me?! Maybe it's that old school-like gym atmosphere?! Sure wish I could've seen that old Albert Park arena because I didn't live that far from it (St. Kilda) myself. NBL nor anyone wouldn't have any idea of the up and coming dynasty of popularity that was the NBA that would surge in popularity in just 2 to 3 years time of 87 here. I was a fan of the Nunawading Spectres myself. Great stuff here and I wonder who televised the games back then?!...
Cal Bruton garbage shooting
Good old Elmer Fudd as the referee....
2nd closest win for Geelong in a winless season.
Jeez, how good was Clinton Grybas on commentary?
Geez the dunk contest has come a long way 😂
His style of play reminds me of dominique obviously nowhere as good but just resembles him
Andrew Vlahow?
Rockin' the 90's Mullet.
Wayne Carroll nearly brought them back
North had some heartbreaking defeats that season but ended up winning the title, and they had some sweet revenge on Canberra when it mattered.
